Team Apirana

Team Apirana Ngata is inspired by the life of
a well known Maori leader, an educator, a scholar, a composer of waiata and
poetry who served as a member of Parliament for 38 years. Sir Apirana
Apirana ( Ngati Porou), received a knighthood title and he is
commemorated on the NZ $50 note.
Team Apirana is working on developing effective
skills in the key areas of competencies (self management, relating to others,
participating and contributing, thinking and using language and symbols) as
part of Living Together The AIS Way
unit of study. The unit enabled everyone to practise effective strategies on
how to relate positively to other people, thinking skills and self management.
We are integrating the underpinning concepts of the AIS Way into all subject areas.

Team Hillary

Our team is named after Sir Edmund Hillary, a great New Zealander who has
inspired and impressed generations. An unassuming and humble man, he
achieved his goals through his determination, courage, perseverance and
strength. We think these are great qualities, and are things we try to
nurture in the students in our team.
Who are we?
Rose Campbell
teaches in Room 4, and is Team Leader this year. Rose has been at AIS for
6 years, and particularly loves teaching Maths and Science.
Joan Makisi has been at AIS for more than 10 years, and has
strengths in Te Reo Maori, Music and the Performing Arts. Joan is in Room
6.
Matt van Wheeler is in his third year of teaching, and brings to
the school a love of sport and a great interest in History and Social Studies.
Simonne Goodall is a very experienced teacher with a new role this
